Chats
How chats work, how to exchange contacts and how to delete a chat on your side.
When a chat opens
After a match in breeding or an accepted application in rehoming. You cannot write earlier.
What you can do
- Write text (up to a set number of characters) and attach photos.
- Enter sends a message, Shift and Enter start a new line.
- Tap “We’ve agreed” to start a deal.
- Open the pet’s or the owner’s profile.
Contacts
Phone numbers and links in messages are hidden until both participants confirm the exchange. Tap “Share my contacts”. Once both sides confirm, the contacts become visible. After that you communicate outside the service, and PetMate does not control that communication.
Deleting
A chat can be deleted only on your side: swipe left, then “Delete”, or “Delete chat” in the chat menu. It stays for your counterpart. If your counterpart deleted their account, you can read the chat but not write.
The “Requests” tab
This holds follow requests to a closed profile (profile).
Reporting
In the chat menu: “Report this person”. On a message: “Report message”. Your counterpart does not learn who reported (how).
