How to rehome an animal
The rehoming profile, applications from candidates, chat and handover. Rehoming is free.
What you need
A signed-in account, a city in your profile and at least one photo of the animal without people, ads or contact details.
Steps
- Open “Animals” and tap “Add animal” (details).
- At the “Purpose” step choose finding the animal a new family (in the list: “Looking for a new home”).
- Fill in the name, age (an approximate one is fine), sex, species and city. The fuller the profile, the higher it ranks in matching.
- At the “Price and terms” step there is no price: rehoming is always free. You can mark which documents the animal has.
- Tap “Publish”. The profile appears in the feed after the photo check (how it works).
- See requests in “Applications”, on the “For my pets” tab. Tap “Accept” or “Decline” and choose a reason (applications).
- After you accept, open the chat and agree on a meeting.
- When the animal has been handed over, tap “We’ve agreed” in the chat and mark the deal (deals).
Rules and limits
Important. A rehoming profile may not state a price, pass a sale off as rehoming or offer paid “rehoming services”. Phone numbers, links and messengers are also forbidden in public texts: contacts are exchanged in the chat after both sides confirm.
- You decide who gets the animal. PetMate does not guarantee that a candidate will be suitable or that the animal will be rehomed.
Common problems
- Profile “Under review”. The photo check is running. The profile appears in the feed by itself afterwards.
- Photo rejected. It shows a person, an ad or contact details. Upload a photo of the animal only.
